Shimbashi Soba Restaurant

You haven’t tasted the best soba (japanese buckwheat noodles) in Singapore if you haven’t been to Shimbashi Viagra Soba at Paragon basement 1.

The moment we pass by the japanese restaurant, we saw a japanese soba master making fresh soba noodles by hand, meaning we will get the freshest soba noodle right from the shop.

While waiting for a table, the friendly japanese manager even came out to bow and apologise to each and every customer in the queue. And on top of that, he gave us a small booklet introducing the soba noodles and the origins of the shop which retails at $12, free.

When we got in after around 10 mins of waiting, the friendly waiters gave us ample time to decide on our order and came immediately when we were ready.

I ordered the Shoukadou Set A which came with teriyaki chicken, salmon sashimi and fish fillet.

One thing worth mentioning is that the salmon sashimi is really fresh and every bite was a total enjoyment! lol.

Yanwen on the other hand, ordered the cold Seiro Soba.

IT WAS HEAVENLY! Alot better than the hot soba i chose for my set. The hot soba i had was quite normal but the cold soba is really really good! The noodle is cooked just right, neither too soft nor too hard and the springy feeling you have when you chew it is indescribable. I will definitely choose the cold soba over the hot one next time.

We ordered a side dish of tempura soft shell crab as well, and this was how it looked like.

On the overall, we really enjoyed the meal and the very good service although it was rather expensive. All that we ordered cost around $45 in all! But really, the quality of the food and excellent service somehow justified the high price.

Tempted? Go try go try! You will be planning another visit even before you finish your food. HAHA.

P.S: This meal was made possible by Yanwen who paid for it in celebration of our 6 months together. Thanks Dear, for such an enjoyable night!
